Kate’s illustrated short story, The Adventures of Groogy and Gleeb, follows a monkey and an alien living on Earth in the distant future as they unravel a mystery left behind by the last of the humans. Underlying the simple nature of the style, the story’s core criticizes the lackadaisical and self-serving choices of those in power and their effect on the future they leave behind; while at the same time showing that even after complete disaster, friendship and kindness will always be constants in the universe.
