SOULACE: Chapter 1 kicks off a fantasy print and web-based comic series following a misguided quest to revive a dead god. This first installment primarily aimed to introduce the main deuteragonists (Max, the bird-man, and Kaz, the mostly-human) and demonstrate the dangers of their bizarre magical environment (In this case, a giant spider made of a pinecone), while secondarily alluding to broader conflicts and themes stemming from mutation and metamorphosis, power imbalance, religion, and myth. SOULACE is illustrated on paper with dip pen and ink before being digitally colored in a limited palette, showcasing a handmade traditional comic feel.
